Domain Name System or DNS allows people to use relevant names to locate internet based resources. When searching for domains one must remember the domain name rather than a numerical set of numbers. Domain Name Systems have allowed internet users from all over the world to make use of the internet. With the invention of a number of internet protocols that worked behind the scenes, the ease of the internet improved tremendously. One of these protocols was DNS or Domain Name System. DNS eliminated the need for internet users to remember a number of addresses, you just need to remember the name of the address. Domain Name System was invented to solve the logistical issues that came up because too many hosts were on the internet to be able to keep track of using a manual list of domain addresses.
The Domain Name System associates various sorts of information with domain names; most importantly, it serves as the informal phone book for the Internet by translating human-readable computer domains, e.g. www.DomainNameSelectorTool.com, into the IP Addresses, e.g. 111 .22.333.444, that networking equipment needs to deliver information. DNS also stores other information such as the list of mail exchange servers that accept email for a given domain.
